How the Awards Work

① Data-Driven Scoring

Every product is evaluated across six weighted dimensions: capacity, performance, value, build quality, charging speed, and ease of use. Category-specific weight adjustments ensure each award reflects what matters most for that use case.

② Verified Sources

Specs come from manufacturer product pages. Review data is synthesized from 1,000+ verified buyer accounts per product across Amazon, retailer sites, and enthusiast forums. Anomalies and fake reviews are filtered algorithmically.

③ Quarterly Updates

Scores are recalculated every quarter. New products are added within 30 days of launch. If a winner is discontinued or a competitor surpasses it, the award updates at the next cycle. No stale recommendations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are SolarGenAdvisor Award winners determined?

Winners are determined by our 6-Dimension Weighted Scoring Matrix. Each product receives a score across six dimensions with category-specific weight adjustments. The product with the highest composite score in each category earns the award. Scores are recalculated quarterly.

Can manufacturers pay to win an award?

No. The program accepts no payment for award outcomes. Manufacturers may sponsor a test-slot (covering data processing costs) but this never influences scores — sponsored products are evaluated identically to non-sponsored ones. All sponsored slots are clearly marked.

How often are awards updated?

Scores are recalculated every quarter (January, April, July, October). New products are added within 30 days of their Amazon listing. If a winning product is discontinued or a competitor releases a significantly better model, the award updates at the next quarterly cycle.

Can a product win in multiple categories?

Yes. A product may win multiple awards if it scores highest in multiple categories. For example, the Jackery Explorer 1000 V2 won Best Portable, Best for Camping, and Best Under $1,000 — reflecting its strength across different use cases.

What is the difference between an Award and a Hands-On Verified review?

An Award is based on our synthesis-based scoring matrix using spec analysis, verified customer reviews, and expert cross-referencing. A Hands-On Verified review means our editorial team has physically tested the unit with real measurements. Both tiers are independent of each other.
