4Patriots Solar Generator Review: Is Patriot Power Worth It?
Short answer: current Patriot Power generators use LiFePO4 batteries and come with a 90-day guarantee, but on published specs, similar-size stations from Jackery, Anker SOLIX, EcoFlow, and Bluetti usually deliver more continuous output and publish more of their specs. Several Patriot Power models were also out of stock or sold only refurbished when we checked. 4Patriots sells on its own site, not Amazon US, so we don't link to it or give it our score. Instead we compare each model's verified specs with Amazon units of similar capacity.
As an Amazon Associate, SolarGenAdvisor earns from qualifying purchases made through links on this page, at no additional cost to you. We have no relationship with 4Patriots and earn nothing from its sales.
The Quick Verdict
✓ A Patriot Power unit can fit if you…
- Want a ready-made emergency kit (generator plus folding panel) from the same company you buy prep supplies from
- Value a 90-day satisfaction guarantee on new units
- Need modest backup: lights, phones, a CPAP, a fridge for a limited time
- Are comfortable buying refurbished or pre-owned (final sale) to get a lower price
✗ Look at alternatives if you…
- Want more continuous output for the same capacity
- Need to know the maximum solar input before buying panels (4Patriots doesn't publish it)
- Want a model that's in stock now and new, not refurbished
- Want to compare live prices across several brands in one place
The Patriot Power Lineup: Verified Specs
These are the Patriot Power models listed in 4Patriots' solar generators collection when we checked on October 22, 2026. Every value comes from that model's own 4patriots.com product page (linked in the column header). Warranty for every model is 4Patriots' standard 365 days (4Patriots refund & warranty policy). 4Patriots also lists a plug-in “Blackout Buddy” backup battery (1,030 Wh, 600W, LiFePO4, 35 lb per its product page), which we leave out of the generator comparison.
Each Patriot Power Model, Explained
Patriot Power Sidekick (298 Wh)
The Sidekick is 4Patriots' compact unit: 298 Wh, 300W continuous and 600W peak, two pure-sine AC outlets, USB-A and USB-C ports (one USB-C rated at 100W in/out), a 12V socket, and two barrel ports, with a LiFePO4 battery rated for 2,000 cycles (4Patriots). It ships with a 40W folding panel that 4Patriots says recharges it in about 7 hours of good sun. On weight: third-party listings disagree on what the Sidekick weighs, so we use the manufacturer's figure. Both 4Patriots' new-unit page and its refurbished-unit page list it at 10.5 pounds. The 300W continuous limit is the main constraint. Many small coffee makers, hair dryers, and microwaves draw far more than that.
Patriot Power Generator 1200 (1,030 Wh)
The 1200 pairs 1,030 Wh with 1,200W continuous (2,400W peak), a LiFePO4 battery rated for 4,000 cycles, a 1.5-hour wall charge, and a 28-pound weight. Its outlets are two AC plugs, two USB-C (45W/100W PD), two USB-A, a 12V DC port, and a 12V car socket (4Patriots). 4Patriots' approximate runtimes include a 120W refrigerator for about 34 hours (cycling), a 45W laptop for about 21 hours, a basic 15W CPAP for about 62 hours, and a 1,000W microwave for about an hour. Its solar charge time is 15–18 hours with one 100W panel. 4Patriots itself notes “It's not a whole-house system.” Two AC outlets is few for a 1 kWh unit, so plan on a power strip for more than two AC devices, staying under the 1,200W limit.
Patriot Power Generator 1800 (768 Wh)
Despite the name, the 1800 refers to output, not capacity. It's rated at 1,800W continuous and 3,048W peak, but stores 768 Wh. 4Patriots now offers it only as a pre-owned, final-sale bundle with a 100W panel. It weighs 25 lb, has a LiFePO4 battery rated for 2,500 cycles, and charges in 3.5 hours from the wall or about 8 hours by solar (4Patriots). Some third-party reviews list a different capacity for the 1800, so check the label on any used unit.
Patriot Power Generator 2000X and 2500X (1,612 Wh)
Both are listed with 1,612 Wh and LiFePO4 batteries rated for 3,500 cycles, and both were offered only as refurbished, final-sale bundles with a 100W panel. The 2000X is rated 2,200W continuous / 4,000W peak, with a 6-hour wall charge, four AC outlets, and expansion to 2,956 Wh (4Patriots). The 2500X is rated 2,500W continuous / 5,000W peak, with a 1.5-hour wall charge, four AC outlets, and expansion to 6,988 Wh with up to four battery packs (4Patriots). A competing retailer's review lists the 2000X at 1,536 Wh (ShopSolar), which differs from 4Patriots' current figure. We use the manufacturer's number. 4Patriots doesn't list a weight for either model.
Patriot Power Generator 2200X (2,240 Wh)
The 2200X is the newest and largest model: 2,240 Wh, 2,200W continuous / 4,400W peak, a LiFePO4 battery rated for over 4,000 cycles, 10 outlets, a roughly one-hour wall charge to 80%, and expansion to 6,720 Wh with two expansion batteries. 4Patriots claims it can keep a full-size fridge cold for up to 75 hours (4Patriots). 4Patriots' page doesn't state a weight or AC outlet count. Gear Diary's January 2026 review (Gear Diary) found its weight cumbersome to carry any distance; check 4Patriots for the exact weight before buying if you plan to move it often.
Patriot Power vs. Amazon Alternatives of the Same Size
We matched each Patriot Power model to LiFePO4 stations on Amazon with the closest capacity. Alternative specs come from our product database. Amazon prices update live, and a cost-per-Wh row appears only when we have a current Amazon price for every alternative in the table. At almost the same capacity and weight, the EcoFlow River 3 Plus and Bluetti Elite 30 V2 both offer 600W continuous AC versus the Sidekick's 300W, and both publish a solar input rating (220W and 200W). That matters if you want to charge faster with a bigger panel.

The Bluetti Elite 200 V2 (2,600W) and Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus (3,000W) offer more continuous output and publish solar input ratings of 1,200W and 1,400W. If weight matters, the Elite 200 V2 is listed at 48.5 lb. See our best 2000Wh solar generators for the full field.
Battery Chemistry: LiFePO4 vs. Lithium-Ion, and Why It Matters
Every current Patriot Power model we checked lists a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4, or LFP) battery, and so does every Amazon alternative on this page. That's a good baseline. Compared with cobalt-based lithium-ion such as NMC, which many older and ultralight power stations use, LFP offers:
- Longer cycle life. Battery University rates LFP at “2000 and higher” cycles depending on depth of discharge and temperature (Battery University BU-205). Goal Zero says LFP lasts “much longer than NMC batteries, particularly with frequent use” (Goal Zero).
- Better thermal stability. Battery University lists LFP's thermal runaway point at 270°C (518°F) and calls it a “very safe battery even if fully charged” (BU-205).
- The trade-off is weight. LFP stores 90–120 Wh/kg versus 150–220 Wh/kg for NMC (BU-205), so an LFP unit is heavier for the same capacity.
Cycle ratings vary even among LFP units. 4Patriots rates the Sidekick at 2,000 cycles and the 1800 at 2,500, versus 4,000+ for the 1200 and 2200X. Our solar generator buying guide explains how to read these ratings.
Where 4Patriots Sells Patriot Power Generators
- 4patriots.com (primary). New, refurbished, and pre-owned units are all listed in the company's solar generator collection. The Sidekick page says units ship from Georgia (4Patriots).
- Not Amazon US. We found no Patriot Power generators sold by 4Patriots on Amazon US in October 2026. That's why there are no Amazon links to them on this page.
- Resale marketplaces. Used and older Patriot Power units show up on eBay, for example a Patriot Power Generator 1500 listing. Search results also point to Walmart.com marketplace pages for some models, but Walmart blocked our check, so we couldn't confirm the seller.
Why the seller matters: 4Patriots' policy says products bought from another retailer or third-party marketplace “must be returned to that seller,” and its warranty excludes “Products purchased from unauthorized third parties” (4Patriots policy). If you buy a used 1,500-watt Patriot Power Generator, check the serial number. In 2016 the CPSC announced a recall of about 2,200 of those units, sold only on 4Patriots.com from November 2014 to April 2015, because the battery sold with them could catch fire. Lekker, the importer, received 13 reports of fires, and owners were told to stop using the units and contact 4Patriots for a free replacement (CPSC recall 16-234; Justia recall record). The recall doesn't involve the current models on this page.
4Patriots Warranty and Return Policy
Here's what 4Patriots' own refund and warranty policy said when we checked on October 22, 2026:
- Warranty: “the standard warranty period for all 4P products is 365 days beginning on the date of purchase.” It's limited, non-transferable, and needs proof of purchase. Defective items are replaced like-for-like, or refunded or credited at 4Patriots' discretion. Extended plans are underwritten by Mulberry, not 4Patriots.
- 90-Day Satisfaction Guarantee: returns must be started and shipped within 90 days of purchase, with a return authorization, and products must be “unused, in like-new condition, with all original accessories and packaging.”
- Final sale exclusions: final-sale items can't be returned under the guarantee but stay covered by the 365-day warranty. The refurbished and pre-owned generator listings we checked (Sidekick refurbished, 1800, 2000X, 2500X) were marked final sale.
- Costs: you pay return shipping on 90-day returns, and original shipping isn't refunded. Lithium battery returns carry “a flat return shipping, handling, and restocking fee” disclosed when the return is authorized. 4Patriots doesn't publish the amount.
- Warranty exclusions include misuse, not following the manual's charging instructions, unauthorized repairs, and purchases from unauthorized third parties.
We don't list warranty terms for the Amazon alternatives because published terms vary by listing and region. Check each brand's current warranty before you buy.
Is 4Patriots Legit? What Owners and Reviewers Report
Yes, it's an established company. But customer feedback is mixed, and it leans negative on generators. 4Patriots LLC is based in Nashville and has operated since October 2008. Its BBB profile showed an A+ rating and accreditation since June 2020, along with 302 complaints filed in the past three years. On Trustpilot, 4Patriots had a TrustScore of 2.4 out of 5 from 559 reviews in late October 2026. Those reviews cover the whole company, including food and other products.
Common complaint themes
- Generators that stop charging, shut off, or arrive defective (Trustpilot reviews)
- Replacements or refunds refused after the return window or 365-day warranty ended (Trustpilot)
- Long phone holds and slow email replies (Trustpilot)
- Heavy weight on the 2200X and only four AC outlets (Gear Diary)
- Lower output and higher price than similar units, per a competing retailer (ShopSolar, which sells rival brands)
Common praise themes
- Orders arriving on time and well packaged, and responsive service for some buyers (Trustpilot)
- Repeat customers who are satisfied overall (Trustpilot)
- 2,240 Wh with fast charging and an included 200W panel on the 2200X, rated 4/5 (Gear Diary)
- Simple, user-friendly design on the earlier 1800 (summarized by ShopSolar)
Themes are paraphrased from the sources linked. Online reviews skew toward people with problems, so read them as a signal rather than a failure rate.
Who Should Buy 4Patriots, and Who Should Buy Something Else
4Patriots fits the bundled emergency-prep buyer: someone who already buys food storage, water filtration, or other preparedness supplies from 4Patriots, wants a generator-plus-panel kit from the same company, and plans to keep it charged for outages. The 90-day guarantee on new units gives you time to test it at home. Keep the box and accessories, since returns must be like-new.
You'll likely do better with an Amazon alternative if you're comparing on output per dollar, want a published solar input rating to size panels, need a model that's in stock new, or want to compare live prices across brands. Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 4Patriots solar generator worth it?
It depends on what you value. Current Patriot Power models use LiFePO4 batteries and come with 4Patriots' 90-day satisfaction guarantee and 365-day warranty, and some are sold as ready-to-go kits with a folding panel. On published specs, though, similar-capacity LiFePO4 stations from Jackery, Anker SOLIX, EcoFlow and Bluetti generally offer more continuous output and publish details 4Patriots doesn't, such as maximum solar input. Several Patriot Power models were also out of stock or available only refurbished or pre-owned (final sale) when we checked in October 2026. If you want a simple emergency kit from one seller, a Patriot Power unit can fit; if you want the most output and published specs for the money, compare the alternatives first.
How many watt-hours is the Patriot Power Sidekick?
4Patriots lists the Patriot Power Sidekick at 298 Wh, with 300W continuous and 600W peak output, a LiFePO4 battery rated for 2,000 cycles, and a weight of 10.5 pounds. Third-party listings disagree on its weight, so we use 4Patriots' own product page. That capacity is enough for phones, lights, a laptop or a CPAP, but not for a full-size refrigerator for long.
What can the Patriot Power Generator 1200 run?
The Patriot Power Generator 1200 has 1,030 Wh of capacity and 1,200W continuous output (2,400W peak), so it can run devices that draw up to 1,200W. 4Patriots' own approximate runtimes include a 120W refrigerator for about 34 hours (cycling), a 45W laptop for about 21 hours, a basic 15W CPAP for about 62 hours, and a 1,000W microwave for about 1 hour. It has only two AC outlets, and 4Patriots notes it is not a whole-house system.
Is 4Patriots sold on Amazon?
We found no Patriot Power generators sold by 4Patriots on Amazon US when we checked in October 2026; the company sells them on 4patriots.com. Used units appear on resale sites such as eBay. 4Patriots' policy says items bought from another retailer or marketplace must be returned to that seller, and its warranty excludes products bought from unauthorized third parties, so check the seller before buying used.
What's a good alternative to the Patriot Power Generator?
Match the capacity. Instead of the Sidekick (298 Wh), look at the EcoFlow River 3 Plus (286 Wh, 600W) or Bluetti Elite 30 V2 (288 Wh, 600W). Instead of the 1200 (1,030 Wh, 1,200W), look at the Jackery Explorer 1000 V2 (1,070 Wh, 1,500W) or Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 (1,024 Wh, 2,000W). Instead of the 2200X (2,240 Wh, 2,200W), look at the Bluetti Elite 200 V2 (2,074 Wh, 2,600W) or Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus (2,042 Wh, 3,000W). All are LiFePO4 and sold on Amazon.
Is 4Patriots legit?
4Patriots is a real, Nashville-based company that has sold emergency-preparedness products since 2008. Its BBB profile showed an A+ rating and accreditation since 2020, alongside 302 complaints filed in the past three years, and its Trustpilot TrustScore was 2.4 out of 5 from 559 reviews when we checked in October 2026. In 2016 the CPSC announced a recall of about 2,200 older 1,500-watt Patriot Power Generators sold in 2014 and 2015 because the battery could catch fire; owners were offered a free replacement.
What is the 4Patriots warranty and return policy?
Per 4Patriots' refund policy, the standard warranty on all its products is 365 days from purchase, and most items can be returned within 90 days under its satisfaction guarantee if unused, in like-new condition, with all accessories and packaging. Final-sale items (which include its refurbished and pre-owned generators) can't be returned under the guarantee but keep the 365-day warranty. You pay return shipping on 90-day returns, and lithium battery returns carry a flat shipping, handling and restocking fee disclosed when the return is authorized. Extended warranties are underwritten by Mulberry.
What battery does the Patriot Power Generator use?
Every current Patriot Power model we checked on 4patriots.com, from the Sidekick to the 2200X, lists a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery, rated from 2,000 cycles (Sidekick) to more than 4,000 cycles (1200 and 2200X). LiFePO4 trades some weight for longer cycle life and better thermal stability than the cobalt-based lithium-ion used in many older portable power stations.
What is the difference between the Patriot Power 2000X, 2200X and 2500X?
According to 4Patriots' listings, the 2000X and 2500X both have 1,612 Wh of capacity: the 2000X is rated 2,200W continuous (4,000W peak) and the 2500X 2,500W continuous (5,000W peak) with faster charging. Both were offered only as refurbished, final-sale bundles in October 2026. The 2200X is the new model, with 2,240 Wh, 2,200W continuous (4,400W peak), a roughly one-hour wall charge to 80%, and expansion to 6,720 Wh.
